Paediatric physiotherapy

Paediatric physiotherapy is physiotherapy for babies, children and adolescents. Leeds Physiotherapy provides specialist paediatric physiotherapists with expert knowledge of the stages of development, to ensure therapy is both safe and effective while this group of patients are still growing and developing. Paediatric physiotherapists aim to make treatment sessions fun and engaging for the child.

Leeds Physiotherapy's paediatric team are able to work with children in neurological, musculoskeletal and respiratory settings. Our paediatric physiotherapists are compassionate and we work closely with parents and carers and are able to provide training on various treatment methods. Our flexible service allows us to provide assessment and treatment when and where your child needs it whether that is in our clinics, at home or school. Some common paediatric problems we see at Leeds Physiotherapy include:

We provide comprehensive assessments designed to uncover all functional deficits, social problems and medical issues facing your child. We will work closely with parents and carers to ensure that we get accurate information. Please bring any medical notes, scans and reports which may be related to your child's condition along to this session.

The assessment will include asking a series of questions which will aim to get as much information about your child's condition as possible. Next a physical assessment will be completed assessing muscle strength, range of movement, balance and tone. Finally special tests will also be conducted to measure key aspects such as balance and functional ability.

From the information gathered in the assessment we will provide you with an accurate diagnosis, realistic prognosis and start to plan clinically effective treatment sessions. Your physiotherapist will also discuss the course of your treatment and the amount of treatment required.
